Abstract The existing transformer short-circuit test equipment and technology have several limitations. purpose of is to simulate the high-voltage under fault condition power system, usually, a large capacity such as burst test, circuit breaker dynamic heat stability verify reliability related extreme working conditions. At present, generally uses methods grid dedicated line supply testing alternator group. However, these two difficulties in construction approval, high investment costs, complex site requirements, impact on grid, low control accuracy. Theoretical studies equivalent simulation verification method withstand capability distribution demonstrated feasibility using modern electronics advanced energy storage replace conventional supply, other equipment. It could complete specified by (IEC60076-5) with lower cost higher efficiency, resistance transformer, improve capacity.
